Our Puppy Socialization Approach
How We Prepare Our Puppies For A Lifetime Of Connection & Love
We utilize three excellent programs – Puppy Culture, Avidog, and the BadAss Breeder Program—to enhance our puppies’ socialization and development. By combining the most effective tools from each, we give our puppies the best chance for success.
Pregnancy & Whelping
Our moms’ health is our top priority. We adhere to the latest guidelines in our breeding practices to keep them healthy and happy. Each mom enjoys a loving environment filled with belly rubs and cuddles. At 35 days into their pregnancy, we conduct ultrasounds to confirm development and perform a puppy count scan five days before the due date to prepare for the litter.
We have strict protocols in place to ensure the health of our moms and the safety of their puppies. Our team is fully involved during delivery to ensure a safe process for both.
After delivery, we provide grooming and care, including twice-daily temperature and mastitis checks. Moms receive unlimited food during nursing, supplemented with Greek yogurt, boiled chicken, and rice to support their health and milk production.
Neonate Puppy Care
As Neonates, we are weighing pups daily to ensure everyone is getting what they need. We monitor closely that everyone is growing, nursing, loved and nurtured. We ensure the babies are in a calm and clean environment and are inspected from nose to tail everyday.
A very important part of that is to start introducing human hands and little snuggles close to our heart and having them smell our breath and that every human interaction is a positive one!
From Day’s 3 to 16 we are performing our ENS/ESI protocol on them to give them their little brain and noses going!
Daily Socialization
We want to expose our puppies to as many sounds, smells, textures, challenges, places and people as safely as we can in the short time they are with us. We introduce new things at age appropriate times for the best success.
Everyday we will provide them with a new challenge as we prepare them for their families. At 4 weeks old we start taking them to the playroom twice a day. It is like a puppy kindergarten as we work through our daily challenges on our daily socialization curriculum. Our families get to follow along as we video their playtime Monday to Friday!
Sound Introductions
Sound and noise introductions are a very important part of the curriculum. We start once their ears are open and they can hear. The things we use include normal household items and go all the way through to the really fearful things like thunder and fireworks.
- Blender, vacuum cleaner, dropped bowls, dogs barking.
- YouTube Music throughout the day with different genres.
- Wall mounted TV in the nursery and every type of TV Show from sports, news, concerts, drama etc.
- Preschool TV Shows like Barney, Bluey, Sesame Street etc.
- Noisy toys in the playroom.
- Thunder, emergency vehicles, planes, fireworks etc.
Daily Handling & Grooming Introduction
Goldendoodles need grooming! The more we expose our puppies to while they are with us, the easier it will be for them going home and going to the groomer!
We wash their faces, paws and privates everyday along with a good brushing. We bathe them at least once a week from about 4 weeks of age. We clip their nails every 5 to 7 days and introduce a small nail grinder to get them used to the vibration.
We introduce clippers and blow their coats dry. We also do daily handling from the tip or their nose to the end of their tail. We are in their mouth everyday checking on their teeth development and getting them used to having a human in their mouth.
The more we do with them while they are with us, the easier it will be for them, their family and groomers. Not every puppy will love all aspects of grooming but we are hoping they will be compliant.
Potty & Kennel Training Introduction
As soon as puppies eyes open and they are mobile we introduce a potty area in the whelping pen. They do not want to potty where they eat, sleep or play so we take advantage of that as soon as possible in their start to potty training.
At 4 weeks old we take away the whelping pen and introduce the kennel and the potty tray. They will be used to sleeping in a kennel with their littermates when they go home and used to going potty in a potty place.
By 8 weeks puppies are consistently going potty in their potty trays making the transition to their new homes easy for families to continue on with potty training.
What our Customers are Saying About Us!
Bailey is the sweetest girl! She is great. She really has a sweet disposition and loves everyone, kids and dogs. She settles down well, and is content to let the kids run around after saying hi. She certainly has the zoomies and is full of beans but settles well and I am able to work during the day.
She is a calm dog and lots have commented on that as she is really happy. She is looong. She has a long body and long legs. Her coat is soft and wavy and rarely mats (yay). Katie says she is fun to play with and given her long legs just walks onto Katie’s bed to snuggle.
"I've adopted a puppy from CJM early 2022 and have been nothing but impressed throughout the whole process. From daily videos of the litter and an amazing socialization program to a full DNA testing for both parents.
Corine has followed up a few times to make sure everything is going well after the fact. The temperament of the puppy I got has been fantastic, and from speaking to friends who have adopted puppies elsewhere, the extra care and attention at CJM puppies with socialization and setting up the litter for their forever homes has not gone unnoticed.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend CJM to any friends or family looking for a puppy."
"Lucy loves her walks. She is a very social pup. She seems to get along with every dog she meets.
She is the biggest cuddler. Everytime I sit on the couch she can not wait to come and cuddle up with me. She definitely loves our couch , and strongly dislikes her dog bed but takes up more than half the couch when lying down!
She is so good with the kids, and we couldn’t ask for a better dog to bring home to them." looking for a puppy."
"From day one, Louie has been well-adjusted, full of personality, and a very good boy - a true testament to the care and attention he received from the breeder.
I highly recommend CJM Puppies to anyone looking for a reputable breeder.
Corine goes to great lengths to ensure that her dogs receive the best possible development and exposure. Her program, which includes extensive genetic testing, is a testament to her dedication to breeding healthy, happy puppies.
Thank you, CJM Puppies, for bringing such joy into our life with Louie"
"Hey Corine. I hope you are doing well. I wanted to send you an update of Stanley. He’s almost 7 months old and is the most amazing dog ever.
He’s incredibly smart, so snuggly and lovely. He has truly completed our family. Here’s a picture I took of him today.
Thank you, CJM Puppies, for bringing such joy into our life with Louie"
“Hi Corine! Just wanted to send you a pic of Pippi! We took her for her first hike to the Lake Agnes Tea House yesterday. It was her first time seeing snow and she was in heaven .
She is the most wonderful dog, we are so happy to have her as a member of our family. She is ridiculously smart, she’s calm and energetic at the same time, she loves people, wags her tail non stop, and is a little bit timid with other dogs at this point.
Thank you so much for putting in so much effort with the litter, for being so caring, loving, and attentive. Pippi had the best start possible because of you and your family. We are so grateful!”
"Naya has been the perfect addition to our family. We love how much she loves snow, how playful and how cuddly she is. She is a very quick learner and has caught onto walking on the leash amazingly.
Teann D. Dog: NayaShe is gentle with our two young daughters and does not nip. We love her so much! People are always amazed at her young age because she is so well behaved. Her fur has been so great to manage.
We groom her every 4 -6 weeks and our groomer says she’s the best puppy she’s ever worked with!"
