Early Neurological Stimulation & Scent Introduction
Our puppy program starts with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) & Early Scent Introduction (ESI)
Enhancing Puppy Development
At CJM Puppies, we incorporate both Early Scent Introduction (ESI) and Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) into our puppy-raising process. These proven techniques are designed to give our puppies the best start in life, promoting strong neurological and emotional development.
Boosting Puppy Development Through Simple Daily Exercises
The ENS program involves five different exercises done with each puppy once a day.
The program recommends staying in each position for 3-5 seconds. This is so the brief changes are enough to stimulate the puppies’ brains but not enough to stress them out too much.
ENS is performed during the puppies’ early developmental stage, from days 3 to 16, helping prepare them for their crucial socialization period.
This method teaches puppies how to interact with and trust humans, other dogs, and animals. By using ENS, we ensure our puppies are emotionally equipped to handle socialization challenges.
- 1. Puppies are tickled on the bottom of their paws and between their toes.
- 2. They are held straight with their tails down
- 3. They are held upside down with their tails up
- 4. They are laid on their backs
- 5. They are placed on a cold washcloth
Unlocking a Puppy’s Potential Through Early Scent Introduction
Early scent introduction (ESI) is a training program for puppies designed to enhance their ability to identify and react to specific scents.
Everyday we introduce a strong scent to the puppy for brief intervals and record the puppy’s reaction.
The reaction is considered to be positive when the puppy shows interest in the scent, moving toward it. A negative reaction is recorded when the puppy tries to get away from the scent. And finally, when a puppy is neither interested nor disinterested in the scent, this is a neutral reaction.
Dr. Gayle Watkins, a breeder of sporting Golden Retrievers, conducted studies on Early Scent Introduction (ESI) and found remarkable results. Dogs that participated in ESI training achieved scenting titles earlier and more frequently than those that didn’t.
This heightened scent ability is crucial for companion, service, and therapy dogs, helping them in life-saving tasks such as tracking children, alerting to gas leaks, or detecting medical conditions.
Since a dog’s sense of smell is up to 100,000 times more sensitive than ours, ESI strengthens their cognitive abilities and enhances their natural talents.
What our Customers are Saying About Us!
Bailey is the sweetest girl! She is great. She really has a sweet disposition and loves everyone, kids and dogs. She settles down well, and is content to let the kids run around after saying hi. She certainly has the zoomies and is full of beans but settles well and I am able to work during the day.
She is a calm dog and lots have commented on that as she is really happy. She is looong. She has a long body and long legs. Her coat is soft and wavy and rarely mats (yay). Katie says she is fun to play with and given her long legs just walks onto Katie’s bed to snuggle.
"I've adopted a puppy from CJM early 2022 and have been nothing but impressed throughout the whole process. From daily videos of the litter and an amazing socialization program to a full DNA testing for both parents.
Corine has followed up a few times to make sure everything is going well after the fact. The temperament of the puppy I got has been fantastic, and from speaking to friends who have adopted puppies elsewhere, the extra care and attention at CJM puppies with socialization and setting up the litter for their forever homes has not gone unnoticed.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend CJM to any friends or family looking for a puppy."
"Lucy loves her walks. She is a very social pup. She seems to get along with every dog she meets.
She is the biggest cuddler. Everytime I sit on the couch she can not wait to come and cuddle up with me. She definitely loves our couch , and strongly dislikes her dog bed but takes up more than half the couch when lying down!
She is so good with the kids, and we couldn’t ask for a better dog to bring home to them." looking for a puppy."
"From day one, Louie has been well-adjusted, full of personality, and a very good boy - a true testament to the care and attention he received from the breeder.
I highly recommend CJM Puppies to anyone looking for a reputable breeder.
Corine goes to great lengths to ensure that her dogs receive the best possible development and exposure. Her program, which includes extensive genetic testing, is a testament to her dedication to breeding healthy, happy puppies.
Thank you, CJM Puppies, for bringing such joy into our life with Louie"
"Hey Corine. I hope you are doing well. I wanted to send you an update of Stanley. He’s almost 7 months old and is the most amazing dog ever.
He’s incredibly smart, so snuggly and lovely. He has truly completed our family. Here’s a picture I took of him today.
Thank you, CJM Puppies, for bringing such joy into our life with Louie"
“Hi Corine! Just wanted to send you a pic of Pippi! We took her for her first hike to the Lake Agnes Tea House yesterday. It was her first time seeing snow and she was in heaven .
She is the most wonderful dog, we are so happy to have her as a member of our family. She is ridiculously smart, she’s calm and energetic at the same time, she loves people, wags her tail non stop, and is a little bit timid with other dogs at this point.
Thank you so much for putting in so much effort with the litter, for being so caring, loving, and attentive. Pippi had the best start possible because of you and your family. We are so grateful!”
"Naya has been the perfect addition to our family. We love how much she loves snow, how playful and how cuddly she is. She is a very quick learner and has caught onto walking on the leash amazingly.
Teann D. Dog: NayaShe is gentle with our two young daughters and does not nip. We love her so much! People are always amazed at her young age because she is so well behaved. Her fur has been so great to manage.
We groom her every 4 -6 weeks and our groomer says she’s the best puppy she’s ever worked with!"
