"We purchased a goldendoodle from CJM Puppies five months ago, and the experience was nothing short of fantastic. From the moment we inquired about their puppies to the day we brought Louie home, Corine demonstrated a level of care and commitment that exceeded all my expectations."
Puppy FAQ’s
Can we come and visit and play with the puppies prior to Go Home Day?
We receive requests to come visit our pups and parents often. I wish we could accommodate visitations in a way that would ensure we were not exposing our puppies to highly contagious and deadly viruses like Canine Parvovirus. The risk of having this brought into our home and nursery on clients footwear and clothing make it impossible to safely reduce the risk to our puppies.
It is our job to ensure we are sending home 100% healthy puppies and we will not take any chances with our dogs or puppies. We have a very busy daily schedule with dog and puppy care. We do not have staff, this is our family and our home. We do have our puppy selection/go home day in person and you are welcome to come in person to pick your puppy and meet us and the parents! We can also Video chat for puppy selection.
We want to make sure families feel like they are a part of the litter’s daily life from pregnancy to go home day. We accommodate this by posting daily videos, puppy pictures and weekly updates by text and email. Our families feel like they have been involved from day 1 with their litter and really feel attached to all the pups!
How often will I get pictures, video’s and litter updates?
We will update you on heat cycles, breeding, due date, estimated go home day, pregnancy ultrasound, puppy count scan and delivery.
- Pictures of pregnancy confirmation ultrasound on day 35 and mom’s belly
- Pictures of puppy count scan on day 58 and mom’s belly
- Pictures the day of delivery with update on number of pups and how many male/female
- Daily videos posted to our social media Monday to Friday
- Weekly individual puppy pictures from week 1 with an update of all they are working on
- Short’s and Reels posted to social media
- Temperment Testing Video’s of each pup prior to puppy selection.
How safe is it to ship a puppy?
We do a lot of work to prepare puppies for flights, we are introducing airplane sounds and flight kennels to everyone in the litter. Pups typically sleep for the flight and they always come out of their flight kennels happy with tails wagging to meet their family and get all the love and attention.
How often does a Goldendoodle require grooming?
One of the most important things you can do is bring your groomer pictures of what you are hoping your dog will look like after the groom. I find bathing a dog/puppy between 3 to 5 weeks a good timeline unless they are dirty. Bathing too much will dry out their skin.
Can we contact you with questions after puppies go home?
We are always available to our families before and after puppies go home. Depending on the day, I usually get back to families within the hour. My phone does get shut off overnight, but I will get in touch as soon as I can the following day to provide assistance.
Do you recommend Pet Insurance?
We send home a 4 week trial of Trupanion Insurance. I do recommend families have insurance for their pups because Emergency Vet bills can cost anywhere from $1000 to $15,000 depending on what is needed. When you have insurance, your focus can be on your puppy/dog and not on how to afford the cost of the Vet bill giving you peace of mind.
How much exercise does a Goldendoodle need?
They are pretty adaptable to their families. We have some very active families that go hiking in the mountains, kayaking, and swimming or we have families that are couch potatoes and everywhere in between. I do feel that they are happier with at least one good exercise session a day.
What are the differences between a male and female Goldendoodle?
We always recommend our families concentrate on their temperament testing scores and video’s, those traits are not gender specific. Temperament in our parents is just as important to us as their health testing. We see parents’ traits in their pups and we only want to breed the best. Most of our parents have lineage of service, therapy or ribbons in their pedigree.
Do Goldendoodles make good working dogs as Therapy, Facility or Service Dogs?
We will work with families and individuals for best placements, but when requiring a Service Dog we do require working with a trainer and having them as part of the selection process. A Service Dog can not be owner trained, they must be trained by a professional. In the Service Dog industry there is a high failure rate for any breed to pass their testing and be successful. We want to ensure our pups are set up for success as much as possible.
When it comes to an ESA (Emotional Support Animal), Therapy or Facility dog, there are programs in place to help an individual to prepare a pup for that type of work and can be supported as an owner trained working dog.
Our program is geared through our Puppy Curriculum to give all of our pups the best chance to meet their full potential whether it is as a family pet or working dog. We typically have requests for working dogs in all of our litters.
How do I know I am working with a reputable breeder I can trust?
